The Altoona Youth Hockey Association (AYHA) is committed to improving the Altoona Hobbs Sports Center for our players, families, officials, and community. This page provides up-to-date information on facility upgrades and ongoing improvement efforts.
Our Mission
With the rising cost of construction making a new facility unattainable, AYHA is focusing on practical and impactful upgrades to the existing rink. The AYHA Board and Rink Improvement Committee are working with public and private partners to identify issues, both on and off the ice, and set realistic goals that improve the experience for everyone who uses the facility.
Completed Improvements
Summer 2025
Locker Room & Referee Room Refresh
– The Mighty Docs donated materials and labor to repaint and refresh much-needed areas of the facility.
October 2025
LED Lighting Upgrade
– New LED lighting was installed throughout the building, including common areas and the ice surface.
– Special thanks to Border States for supplying materials and to United Rentals for providing a scissor lift.
November 2025
Concessions Area Enhancement
– New digital display boards were added, improving both appearance and communication.
– Thank you to Goodland Communications for their assistance.
Looking Ahead
AYHA will continue evaluating and prioritizing improvements that strengthen the facility for future generations of Altoona hockey players. As plans develop, updates will be shared here.
